Desert Winters

Apr 22, 2016

I should be studying, but who studies when you can blog instead!? My girlfriends and I recently {well, January} took a road trip through the desert and it was nothing short of amazing. You can see more photos here. When it comes to dressing for travel, I always like to opt for comfort and it's a plus if it's super chic. Whether you are traveling by car, boat, or plane, they are all pretty similar. I find that when doing a road trip, you want to wear something comfortable, but also nice because there are my stops for photo opps. Rather if you travel by air, you can't really bust out a full photo shoot, so definitely aim for more comfort there. Either way, simplicity and comfort are what I aim for when traveling!

Parisian for the Day

Apr 20, 2016

It's always a whirlwind of fun when I get to return to the city of love. Paris is a delight in so many ways {especially for bloggers like us}. The photo opps, the coffee shops, the shopping, and the gorgeous architecture. This city is a playground for people of all ages. It truly has captured my heart. There is always so much to see that I feel my trips are always too short. This city is filled with history and there are so many museums to prove it. But really, the pastries and bakeries are just to die for! Really really really, make your way to Paris at least ONCE in your life. It is worth your time, money, efforts, and so much more! Paris will always have a piece of my heart. xo

PALACE OF VERSAILLES
This has got to be my favorite place in all of Paris {although, technically it's not in Paris}. The Palace of Versailles was home to the infamous Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI. The beauty lies in the architecture and the lavishness of the entire palace. I mean really, you can spend a whole day here seeing all the palaces and the many gardens in the back yard. We rented a little golf cart and drove around the gardens and visited the smaller two homes, which are buried behind the gardens. If you come during the spring/summer season, there is a musical fountain show at nights. Go early! The line can get ridiculously long and this is something you do NOT want to miss.
MUSEE D'ORSAY
Of all the things to do in Paris, visiting art museums is one of the most important. This museum below was previously a train station which was converted into an art museum. It houses many famous works of art including Monet, Manet, Renoir, and Van Gogh. It houses the largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist art. Not only is the art beautiful, but the architecture and as pictured below, there is a clock tower at the top that gives you an amazing view of the Seine River. This museum and the Louvre are of the two most famous museums that you must seen once in your life. So really what I'm saying is: this is worth the visit.
PALAIS GARNIER
This is the exterior of the Grand Opera House in Paris. Although I did not have a chance to go inside, I have seen photos and this is definitely worth the visit. {You should definitely see a ballet or opera if you have the chance.} The outside is exquisite and the city is just filled with amazing architecture.
GALERIES LAFAYETTE
If you love shopping, this is the place for you! {High-end shopping, of course.} This mall is located near the opera house and is in a popular shopping area. The best part of this shopping center is pictured below: the amazing stained glass ceiling. So while you shop, gaze up and see the beautiful ceiling. **There is also a gorgeous panoramic view of the city located at Printemps next door.
As mentioned earlier, this the the view from Printemps. {As well as the photo from the beginning of this post.}
ARC DE TRIOMPHE
Of the many things to see in Paris, this is a must. It is beautifully placed in the center of the city in the middle of a roundabout. If you see it at sunset {like I did}, it is an impeccable view. You can also climb to the top of this, if you are willing to wait in quite a line. It is also conveniently located at the Champs-Elysees!
SEINE RIVER: I didn't do a river cruise, but if you can, you should definitely do it.

EIFFEL TOWER: Another must-see.
THE LOUVRE: Who can forget about Mona Lisa? Tip: Get a skip-the-line ticket and go right when it opens or you'll never see Lisa. {I don't have many photos from the Louvre, but let's be real.. We're all here to see her.}

Southwest Road Trip

Apr 13, 2016

I've been seriously obsessed with Sherlock and if I didn't care about my blog, I would probably be holed up in my room watching it on Netflix! But, I care. {I really do.. Promise!} So updates - here we go! At the end of 2015, my girlfriends and I went on a road trip and because I am so impossibly lazy, I never had uploaded any of my photos. Four months later.. Better late than never, right? I guess you can say it was last minute plan, but we were all just itching for somewhere to go and something to do, especially because it was winter break. Also since I am a broke college student and my budget was not very high, a road trip fit the bill just right. It can be a cheaper alternative, yet still fun. Our route began in Los Angeles and headed to Las Vegas for the first stop. The next day, we went out to Page, AZ to see the beautiful Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyons. Next, we drove on to spend the night in beautiful Sedona, AZ. From there, the last and final stop was Palm Springs--just the perfect place to end the trip! There are so many things to see around California, you can never run out of places to go. So grab your girls, pack your bags, and HIT THE ROAD, JACK!

FIRST STOP - LAS VEGAS
This was our first stop and really we only spent a night there. We stayed at the LINQ hotel {which is absolutely gorgeous and newly renovated!} and explored their adorable little promenade downstairs. I wish I had photos of the hotel for you, but unfortunately, I don't. But if you're there, make your way to Sprinkles and get some ice cream! It's to die for.

SECOND STOP - ARIZONA
The highlight of our trip and the reason we really planned it: Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend! My goodness, the sights are amazing. They are both located in Page, Arizona and are in close proximity to each other. {So if you do one, you definitely will do the other.} It was everything I expected and more. The pricing was reasonable and the tour was quick, but I definitely suggest buying tickets in advanced. The line can be long and it may even sell out. There are two different canyons--the upper and the lower. We went to the lower canyons, but it is just as beautiful. Horseshoe Bend, however, is free of charge and definitely worth the view. We ended our night in Sedona, Arizona at an amazing resort with a gorgeous hot tub. The views are amazing and I will definitely have to come back again. Worth the visit!

LAST STOP - PALM SPRINGS
Lastly, we ended our girl's trip with a little R&R at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. Oh, it was just so much fun and perfectly beautiful. PS is usually excruciatingly hot during the summer {which is when their peak vacation times are}, but this weather was absolutely perfect. The hotel was everything I expected and MORE. Definitely recommend it for your next visit to the desert.

Now I know why it took me so long to post these photos. Seeing these again make me want to go on a road trip ASAP! Something we all need to experience, so get out there and see the world. I know this definitely was one of many road trips--many more to come!
