Snowy Weekend in Upstate New York

Mar 2, 2018

If you know all of us in Los Angeles, you know we only have one type of weather. And don’t get me wrong I’m not complaining {too much}, but it would be nice to experience some type of different weather. Lucky for me, my sister is such a travel junkie and she is always down for any trip regardless of how far or how short it might be. This winter, we were dying to go somewhere snowy and Buffalo, NY was one of our two locations. {Read about our first winter trip here.} Why winter, you ask? So that we can wear our cute winter coats! “So yeah! Why not? Let’s go!” is exactly how it went. This faux fur coat was just too good and it had to be worn.

Stay tuned for a city guide post of Buffalo/Niagara Falls if you ever plan on visiting!

This city is absolutely so charming. The small town feel is everything I love.

4 Active Wear Brands You Need to Know

Jan 25, 2018

Lately I've been on a bit of a workout-and-live-healthier kick which is probably the best kind of "kick" to have, right? Although, let's hope this one doesn't end by the end of the month {a.k.a. next week} like most new year's resolutions do. To be completely honest, I have never been the fit or active type of girl either, so me being in this type of mood is a blessing. I partially have to give credit to Orangetheory classes for kicking my behind and my workout buddies for not letting me slack off. But a lot of the other credit goes to workout clothes... and no, I don't mean my black yoga pants that I wear only to run errands and drink coffee in.

Working out itself is already hard as it is, but I find that when you're working out in clothes that makes you feel good, look good, or is just super cute {see yellow outfit above}, the workout scale changes and it gets a little bit easier. These days it's all about "athleisure" and being able to turn your workout clothes into more; learning how to take it from day-to-night or workout-to-hangout. On that note, I'm sharing a couple of brands I swear by or just really need to get my hands on.

1. Outdoor Voices
Okay I'll be honest, I've never actually tried any of their clothing, but remember when I said a couple brands I "really need to get my hands on"? This is one of them. They have recently gained kind of a cult following, but with those cute two-tone leggings, who wouldn't want to buy 3 in 3 different colors? I have had friends buy some and read tons of reviews and have heard nothing but raving reviews. So before the end of the year {or maybe month}, this is on my bucket list.

2. Lululemon
If you don't know about Lululemon, then you've quite clearly been living under a rock. It is by far one of the most popular workout brands--and for good reason. I was never a firm believer in buying expensive workout clothes until I met my first pair of Lululemon running pants. It is made perfectly in every single way. The lightness, the fabric, the smoothness was all perfect. I was officially converted and never will I ever go back. {And yes, I go and hangout in my Lululemon pants.}

3. Lou & Grey
This is actually one of those brands that has amazing lounge-wear and dabbles into active wear and somehow manages to kill the game. As the daughter company of Ann Taylor and The Loft, it kind of carries the same minimalist and sophisticated aesthetic. They have some of the softest fabrics you will ever sleep in that can double for both lounge and active. Oh and when there's a sale, you don't want to miss it!

4. Pure + Good (at Anthropologie)
Writing this post has me researching this brand and you know, it's actually pretty difficult to find. I was lucky this past month and happened to buy a couple of Pure + Good items from Anthropologie in the sale section. That's how I found out about it and fell in love with it at the same time. They tend to sell more simple layers than workout clothes, but when you do find it, keep it. I have a pair of workout pants and they are just as good as my Lululemon pants at half the price.

Happy exercising and happy new year!

7 Black Booties to Wear Now

Dec 8, 2017

I am currently crazy about boots, but only the short, casual ones that take 5 years to break in. Yeah, I'm looking at you Marc Fisher! Granted, it was my fault I decided to choose a day where I would be walking 800 miles to wear new shoes. Point is: I saw these Marc Fisher booties at the Nordstrom sale and had to had them. {p.s. they were under $150!}

Personally, I am quite picky when it comes to finding the right boots and it has taken me so long to find the perfect pair. When choosing, you have to consider so many things: height of the boot, pointy or round, heel or no heel - so this pair was God sent. Beyond that, there are so many styles out there to choose from. There are studded pairs for the daring fashionistas and sock stiletto boots for the Kylie Jenner peeps out there.

I rounded up a couple of pairs below for your Friday shopping list:
Top Row:
1. Joie {Saleema Velvet Bootie} - only a few left!
2. Rivets {Pointed Toe Stiletto Heel Boots} - under $50, go now!
3. Steve Madden {Mimi} - sock stiletto boots are still all the rage and this pair is totally affordable.
4. Tony Bianco {Hampton Bootie} - only available in snake print now, but still. so. cute.

Bottom Row:
1. Marc Fisher LTD {Metal Studded Leather Chelsea Booties} - sold out, some other options below.
2. Halogen {Anita Bootie} - perfect boot for the day/night outfit.
3. Marc Fisher LTD {Yommi Chelsea Bootie} - I own these, love them, so go buy them now!

50 degrees for us West Coasters = below freezing. Get your scarves + coats out people!

For all the ones that aren't available, here are also other options below. There is a black boot for everyone out there. Happy hunting!

Getting Cozy for Christmas

Dec 1, 2017

Can you believe that it's already December 1st? Where did the year go? Don't get me wrong, the holidays are my favorite time of year. Drinking cocoa, watching Christmas lights, listening to Christmas music, and most of all, wearing comfy clothes and doing absolutely nothing.

On my recent trip to New York City this past Thanksgiving, we stayed at the Sixty Lower East Side hotel. It was trendy, the perfect location, and simply everything we were looking for. But the best part of our stay {in my opinion because my sister would disagree} was the hotel robe. And I am not lying when I called to ask the lobby if they had extras I could purchase--they didn't. So naturally, that set me on the mission to find the perfect robe for this holiday season: something cozy and soft. While at that, I am sharing other things that are comfy and cozy or something that will facilitate your holiday laziness. So kick open the cocoa, turn on your Netflix and hit the couch.

Happy shopping napping!

Gingham on Casual Friday

Sep 16, 2017

Don't get me wrong I love wearing work-wear, but I love casual Fridays even more! It's a chance to be comfortable and switch those slacks/skirt out for your trusty pair of jeans. Yeah, that's why I am smiling like an idiot in the picture above. This Friday was definitely a little more special. Since the office was practically empty - hoorah! - I went complete casual with my favorite new Gingham top from Anthropologie. The office gets extremely cold toward the end of the week, so I love bringing a cozy, over-sized sweater to stay warm. And you know what's the best part about casual Friday? The next day is THE WEEKEND! {Not to be confused with the rapper, the Weeknd. He has no 'e'.} On another note, there's been a ton of end-of-summer sales going on EVERYWHERE... you know the drill - go now!

Cloth & Stone Gingham Top {sold out, similar here} // Joe's Skinny Jeans {$47.98 - on sale!} //
Sam Edelman Nude Flats {$59.97} // Celine Tote

Telling Time with JORD

Jan 5, 2017

I honestly never understood why people wore watches {obviously other than telling time}. In this day and age, everyone is constantly on their iPhones or insert other smartphone. So what is the point of wearing watches anymore when you can simply look at the bright screen staring back at you with the time {most likely} plastered on your screensaver?

It was when I got a little older that I realized that watches are more than just for telling time. It is not only wrist candy or a nice accessory to complete your outfit, but it is the perfect companion to appreciate life and time {without your phones}. Growing up in this new technologically-driven era, everything is about smart phones and even smart watches, but sometimes it is nice to step back and appreciate the simpler things in life. When you're in need of a little simplicity plus a dash of style, look to JORD for your perfect watch. These watches are unique and perfect not only for yourself, but as a gift for any special person in your life. Carefully crafted and adds the perfect touch to any outfit.
